As the world turns
No daytime story
It’s real life and details are gory
You got babies being killed
By men that consider themselves real
The culprit never gets caught
Because of street code that was taught
No snitching if you want to live
So no names are there to give
to police
to get the killer off the streets
and the whole neighborhood knows
But the fear shows
Fearing for their life
So people are letting the trife
go on
Nobody really to carry on
The legacies of Malcolm X and Martin Luther King
That’s why the guns continue to ring
The shooting down of black men
By other black men.
When will it end??
It won’t as long as people don’t change their mindsets
Thinking petty street hustling is as good as it gets
Mediocrity
Too popular in our society
Get pass the generational curse
Stop settling for seeing your brothers in a hearse
At an earlier age than should be
Parents keep your kids out these streets
Make sure they aren’t trying to be “bout that life”
It will keep them from adding to the plight
Of our people
And feeling like all races aren’t equal
and prevent there being continuous sequels
to the horror stories on the news
and bringing about more blues
Families saddened
crying, sitting around wondering “what happened?”
Goes back to teaching in homes
Being there for kids instead of letting them roam
freely
with no life teaching
Make sure that your kids learn
There’s money to be earned
No need for guns to be burned
The streets could have you dead in an urn
